NW Philly Depends on Transit. Help the Campaign to Keep Chestnut Hill West and Other Transit Services Running

The Save the Train coalition was created to fight drastic cuts to rail and bus service looming because of SEPTA’s ongoing budget shortfalls. With Gov. Josh Shapiro proposing a dramatic new investment in the transit agency, we need to press lawmakers in Harrisburg to follow through and fund his pledge.

Our advocacy made a difference, and we can’t stop now. Stabilizing SEPTA’s operating budget through increased state funding isn’t enough: We need to help SEPTA out of the public transit “death spiral” caused by pandemic-era ridership decreases.

With countless transit-oriented developments in progress or planned across Northwest Philadelphia, it’s obvious we need more transit service, not less.

We need to use our rail and bus routes, expand the rider pool by teaching non-users on how to use SEPTA, press for long-term accessibility improvements, and make the case for greater frequency to match our community’s needs.
